Jonny makes the Top 15!

Mister Wales 2008, Jonny Rees has done Wales proud at Mister World by placing in the top 15, after competing against 75 other contestants from countries across the world.

Jonny, 25 from Swansea has just returned from a 3-week trip whirlwind to Mister World in Seoul, Korea where he placed in the top 15, which is better than any of the girls have done at Miss World since 2004 when Amy Guy placed in the top 5.

Jonny ReesJonny Rees said of his experience at Mister World, “I have had the most amazing three weeks of my life, met some great people and danced with Alesha Dixon on stage. It has all been very surreal, there were cameras and reporters everywhere we went so I felt like a proper celebrity! It was the best experience of my life and I would encourage any guy to give the Mister Wales a go for the chance to take part in Mister World because, despite and 18 months wait and an intense training schedule, it has been totally worth it”.

“When I entered two years ago I never thought I would win let alone get the chance to go to Korea to compete at Mister World. It is a great experience from start to finish and a lot of fun. So I would tell anyone to enter.”

The winner of Mr World is Kamal Ibrahim from Ireland with 3rd place going to Nigeria and 2nd place going to the Czech Republic.

Mister Wales 2008Paula Abbandonato, Director of Vibe Models, said: "We want to hear from young men from across Wales who think they've got what it takes to step into the shoes of current winner, Mark Tancock from Swansea.  Swansea has taken the title for the last two years and may well take it again this year to make it a hat trick so we are trying to encourage handsome hunks across the country to step up to the challenge.”

Mister Wales is not a bodybuilding contest, it is about finding Wales’s most desirable man. We're not just searching for someone with great looks, they need to have style, charm, intelligence, charisma and strength too”.

Mister Wales 2008The winner of Mister Wales will receive a modelling contract with Vibe Models, the opportunity to judge the Miss Wales 2011 regional heats, the opportunity to judge at the Miss Wales 2011 final and the chance to go to Lapland and Australia with The Joshua Foundation.  He will also have the opportunity to go to Mister World to compete in the event alongside men from countries worldwide, if a Mister World is held during his reign.

Applicants should be Welsh (or have lived in Wales for six months). They should be between 18-30 years old, of any marital status, over 5”10” tall and should have a good physique and handsome face, however we must emphasize that this is not a body building competition.

The final of Mister Wales will take place on Saturday 25th June at the same time as the final of Miss Wales in St David’s Hall.

It will be in front of a live audience, with media in attendance and will involve three catwalk rounds: welshwear (rugby/football shirt and jeans), surfwear and evening wear (dinner suit).
